Deirdre's House Giving Tree

BHS is participating in the Deirdre’s House "Giving Tree" gift drive again this year. Deirdre’s House is the Center in Morris County for child victims of abuse and/or neglect and for children that have witnessed violence.  If interested in picking from the giving tree, contact Ms. Kelly Clark ([email protected]) for more information on how you can help.  All gift donations must be new, unwrapped, and brought in by 12/5 to Ms. Clark. Your generosity is appreciated! Gift cards are a wonderful donation too!

Parents and Professionals of Exceptional Children

Choir Winter Concert

The Bernards Choirs are ready to spread some JOY with their annual Winter Concert this Thursday (12/8) at 7pm in the Bernards High School Performing Arts Center. Hear holiday and other festive selections as well as a diverse repertoire from other parts of the world. You can also hear some of your favorite carols performed by the Madrigals in the PAC Lobby starting at 6:30pm before the performance. A suggested donation is being collected at the door in order to help our students by defraying costs of our spring tour to Nashville, TN. Suggested donation is $8/adults, $5/students & seniors, $20/family. ALL ARE WELCOME! Click here for the concert flyer.

The Governor's School of New Jersey

The Governor's School of New Jersey is an intensive academic program that was established in 1983. It is a tuition-free, summer, residential program for high-achieving high school seniors who have an interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects. Currently, there are two programs: the Governor’s School in the Sciences at Drew University and the Governor’s School of Engineering & Technology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. The programs are open to students from diverse economic backgrounds who are New Jersey residents and who have completed their junior year in any public or private high school or are home-schooled. Juniors interested in applying are invited to write a 100 word response stating: (1) why this program appeals to you and (2) why you are the best candidate to represent BHS. Responses should be submitted to Dr. Walker in the Guidance Office no later than December 15th. Refer to this website for additional information about the program:

Free Webinar by College Wise: PSAT- Perfecting your Scores and Approach to Testing

College Wise is hosting a free webinar on December 8th at 8 PM to help families interpret recently released PSAT scores. At this webinar, attendees will be able to understand the most important parts of the score report, see what each score means and whether you’re hitting benchmarks, and learn more about National Merit Scholarship and others for which you might qualify. Discover how to best prepare for the real thing (SAT, ACT). Register here.

HSA Teacher Appreciation Opportunity!

The BHS Teacher Appreciation Committee is hosting an event to celebrate our teachers and staff on Tuesday December 20th. We plan to have treats and coffee available for the teachers and staff to enjoy and take home. We're looking for volunteers to either bake or buy 1 or 2 dozen cookies and drop them off before the 20th. Project Graduation Night of the Stars

Night of the stars is coming soon! Mark your calendars for Friday, January 20th and make sure your kids submit their permission slips by January 13th. Please click on the links below to open the permission slip and the invite. Please return the permission slip via email or there will be a box set outside the main office for drop off. Also attached is a sign-up genius for gift certificate donations which are needed for prizes. We greatly appreciate your support by donating gift cards anywhere between the amount $10 and $20. Save time while holiday shopping and knock this off your to-do list at the same time!

Have your seniors start thinking about creative ideas for costumes now so they are ready on the 20th!! It’s going to be a night to remember!

Catalyst's ACT Bootcamp for Bernards is next weekend! This momentum building weekend seminar gives students the insight and confidence they need on the day of the test. Students will also leave with Catalyst's self-study materials for sustained practice right up until the test. Tuition for each Bootcamp is just $175. The ACT Bootcamp at BHS Saturday, June 2nd from 9am-1pm and Sunday, June 3rd from 9am-1pm.  Deadline is May 30th!
